Day 16 - Dublin

Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle

Today started with a tour of Dublin…a quick bus ride through Phoenix Park on our way to Dublin Castle.  More of a palace than a castle, this was the seat of the British government during their rule over Ireland.  I'd been to Dublin Castle in the past, however, other than the Police Museum and Archive where I did research for a client a few years ago, I had not been inside  This tour included a tour of the inside, including the rooms where the Irish government now holds state events and dinners.  After that, the tour went on to Trinity College to see the Book of Kells and the Long Library.  Having been there before, I decided to run a few errands and rejoin the group at the Kilkenny Shop across from Trinity when they finished.

The rest of the afternoon was free (until a 4:30 dinner) so a few of us walked up to Christ Church and then to St. Patrick's on our way back to the hotel.  The early dinner was required so we could change and get back on the bus for our evening concert in Blessington, County Wicklow, about an hour from Dublin.

The concert was well attended and they held a reception for us after.  We got back to the hotel about 11:00 p.m.

Ducky was recovering and didn't make it out today, but we have some pictures from his visit to Glendalough.
